Apartment built around the curve

A 77 sq m apartment built entirely around a single thread: the curve. Freed from every straight wall, the project flows from the entrance to the master bedroom through rounded plaster passageways.
The original plan was a standard 1970s three-bedroom box with right angles everywhere and no view from the entry. The client wanted the opposite, a home that read as one continuous, gentle gesture.
We removed all interior walls and rebuilt the apartment as a sequence of rounded archways, curved plaster volumes, and a single continuous oak floor that runs from the entrance through the living room to the master bedroom.
The kitchen is set into a curved volume of cream lacquer, with a circular marble island at its centre. The bathroom is a single oval chamber lined in tadelakt with a sculpted plaster basin.
Every joinery piece was hand-drawn at full scale on site, then carved on a CNC by our cabinetmaker in Nancy. No catalogue product was used.
